An Overview of Cosmelan Hyperpigmentation Treatment

The cosmelan treatment is the world’s leading professional pigmentation removal method. The treatment is suitable for all forms of hyperpigmentation from melasma, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, solar lentigo to ephelides (freckles) and can be used on all skin prototype’s.

Skin hyperpigmentation is caused by abnormal production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin colour, and a consequence of uncontrolled, localized overproduction of melanin inside the melanocyte, which causes irregular skin coloration and dark spots. Numerous external and internal factors can cause hyperpigmentation:

Genetic Tendency

Sun Exposure

Hormonal Changes

How does cosmelan work?

Exposure to Chemicals

Photosensitizing medication

With an intensive corrective effect that regulates overproduction of melanin in the melanocytes, inhibiting and controlling the appearance of new dark spots. It is dual corrective and controlling action achieves both short and long-term results by keeping hyperpigmentation under control.

The cosmelan contains an exclusive combination of active substances with proven efficacy, which act on all phases of the hyperpigmentation process totally eliminating existing hyperpigmentation, preventing it reappearance and stopping the appearance of new dark spots.

The treatment consists of one in-clinic treatment followed by home maintenance, which should be continued for 12 months.

The cosmelan 1 is the professional treatment mask which is applied by a skin professional in clinic and this should be left on for a period of between 8 – 12 hours depending on the clients Fitzpatrick, skin type and form of hyperpigmentation.

The cosmelan 2 should then be used by the client at home. This process is started 48 hours post the in-clinic mask and is recommended to be used three times daily in the first month. Twice daily in the 2nd and 3rd month and once in the evening in the 4th month onwards.

The homecare process of cosmelan 2 maintenance cream is continued to allow the melanocyte to stop producing the same abnormal production of melanin and continue to not produce this by its self. If this is not followed for this amount of time, the hyperpigmentation will most likely return as the melanocyte will start producing the same hyperpigmentation.

Results can be seen in as little as two weeks but can continue to improve with the best of the result being seen between 30 and 60 days following the treatment.

Peeling and a little redness and irritation can be expected initially. This may last until the application of cosmelan 2 is reduced in the second month. Melan recovery is recommended to be applied to the skin to reduce the peeling and irritation significantly.

No, cosmelan may also be used on the body and is commonly used on the back, shoulders, arms décolletage and hands, which all commonly experience forms of hyperpigmentation.

The client should be using mesoestetic ultimate W+ foam, melan recovery and melan 130+ alongside their cosmelan 2. Using the products will reduce irritation, peeling and chances of having any adverse reactions.

Are there any aftercare products the client should avoid and is it safe for them to use other products at any point during the method? Any products containing Vitamin C or retinols should be avoided throughout the treatment. These will be too stimulating for the skin.

During the first month, the skin will be particularly sensitized, and we would therefore only recommend they use the products contained in the aftercare pack with the maintenance cream. After the first month however, when the skin is no longer irritated, we recommend introducing other products from the mesoestetic W+ whitening range, along with the melan tran3x concentrate and melan tran3x gelcream.

During the cosmelan treatment no other procedures should be performed, however the melanostop peel should be performed 48 hours before the cosmelan in-clinic treatment. This will prepare the skin for the treatment removing any dead skin cells and hydrating the skin, allowing the cosmelan to work deeper within the skin.

Laser is a commonly used, highly effective treatment. It is particularly effective for low and medium phototype skins (phototype 1-3) where hyperpigmentation is more visible on the skin surface. Even so, the professional must recommend a maintenance treatment to prevent the reappearance.

In higher phototypes (phototype 4-6) however, laser is less effective, and the likelihood of post- inflammatory hyperpigmentation is higher. The cosmelan method is better tolerated, more efficient and involves a lower risk of recurrence and a longer-lasting result.

What is Cosmelan?

Cosmelan is a 2-step intensive topical treatment system designed to reduce and regulate stubborn and dense pigmentation and blotchiness. Cosmelan’s blend of synergistic ingredients work fairly quickly, resulting in an effective blending and reduction of undesirable pigment.

Cosmelan regulates the melanin activity, causing the pigment producing cells to slow down their abnormal over-production and function in a more uniform way. Cosmelan is “sun-friendly” so you can use the products and still have an active outdoor lifestyle. It works well on all skin types – even darker toned Asian, Mediterranean and Latin skin. Cosmelan will also produce a slight initial peel which helps refinish the skin surface while diminishing hyper-pigmentation.

Melanin, the natural pigment that determines skin, eye and hair color, is usually evenly distributed. But when factors such as sun exposure, heat, hormones or skin injury disturb the melanin cells, the color distribution becomes haphazard, resulting in mismatched skin, brown patches and spots.

The ingredients of Cosmelan lighten existing pigmentation and regulate future melanin production.

Cosmelan Steps

The First Step in your Cosmelan program is the application of a pigment reduction activating mask called Cosmelan I. This is a key component in stimulating the quick response. The special Cosmelan Mask is left on your skin for 5 to 10 hours depending on your skin type and sensitivity level.

Your At-Home program will consist of active-ingredient products that you will use on a consistent basis to further improve pigmentation problems and prevent excess pigment formation. Your maintenance cream, Cosmelan II, will be used on a ongoing basis. This special pigment control cream contains ingredients such as Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Ascorbic Acid and a protective agent, Titanium Dioxide.

*Cosmelan is formulated without Hydroquinone. Active ingredients include azelaic acid, kojic acid, arbutine, phytic acid, ascorbic acid. Cosmelan® Depigmentation treatment action mechanism is based on the inhibition of tyrosinase, a basic enzyme in the melanin formation process. Several of the substances present in the Cosmelan formula act by blocking this enzyme.

Hyper-pigmentation is very difficult to conceal, even with heavy makeup or camouflage creams. Women who have previously had to resort to unnatural looking cover up makeup and concealers are generally able to use only a minimal amount of makeup once they have adopted the Cosmelan program.

Types of Hyper Pigmentation

Melasma or Chloasma: Skin coloration that appears as blotchy brown spots, often covering cheeks, forehead, or temples. This type of hyper-pigmentation can be hereditary, or triggered by hormonal changes such as pregnancy or menopause. Taking birth control pills can also trigger Melasma. In addition, some treatments may worsen the condition so be sure to consult a physician prior to having treatments meant to improve melasma.

Age Spots or “Liver” Spots: Smaller darkened patches usually on older adults who have been exposed to the sun for many years. These spots can be seen on the face, forearms and backs of hands.

Post-Inflammatory Hyper-Pigmentation: This type of hyper-pigmentation results from any injury or trauma to the skin that causes inflammation. Typical causes of post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation:

Acne – particularly cysts or nodules – often leaves brownish discoloration after a blemish heals. Persistent cystic acne can be minimized with Photodynamic Therapy.

Incorrect chemical peels, improperly performed laser hair removal, or poorly chosen laser treatment can cause hyper-pigmentation.

Rashes like psoriasis and eczema often darken the skin as well. Even leg waxing and electrolysis can cause the melanin cells to over-react.

Prolonged exposure to heat, whether from being in the sun or working over heat-producing appliances can also be a potential cause.

Treatment Guidelines

You must not use glycolic products for at least one week prior to your first Cosmelan treatment. You must not combine other topical treatments with Cosmelan. Dr. Sedgh will provide guidelines for home use products so they will work correctly with your Cosmelan products.

Other Treatments for Hyperpigmentation

From time to time, additional measures are incorporated to further the results. Poor skin texture combined with pigmentation may respond best to fractional resurfacing, as will Melasma and Chloasma. Chemical peels may be used as an adjunctive in reducing sun damage-related pigmentation. IPL for pigmentation that is not hormonally induced, is good also for diffuse pigmentation from sun damage. PhotoDynamic Rejuvenation is a process for targeting damaged skin cells with a topical light activated solution.

What’s Hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is not necessarily a condition but a term that describes skin that appears darker. It can:

  • occur in small patches

  • cover large areas

  • affect the entire body

While increased pigmentation usually is not harmful, it can be a symptom of another medical condition. Learn about types of hyperpigmentation, causes, and how to treat it.

What Causes Hyperpigmentation?

A common cause of hyperpigmentation is an excess production of melanin. Melanin is a pigment that gives skin its color. It’s produced by skin cells called melanocytes. Several different conditions or factors can alter the production of melanin in your body.

Certain medications can cause hyperpigmentation. Also, some chemotherapy drugs can cause hyperpigmentation as a side effect.

Pregnancy changes hormone levels and can affect melanin production in some women.

A rare endocrine disease called Addison’s disease can produce hyperpigmentation that is most obvious in areas of sun exposure, such as the face, neck, and hands, and areas exposure to friction, such as elbows and knees.

The hyperpigmentation is a direct result of an increased level of a hormone in your body that results in increased melanin synthesis.

Excessive sun exposure can also cause an increase in melanin.

What are the symptoms and risk factors?

Darkened areas on the skin are the main symptoms of hyperpigmentation. Patches can vary in size and develop anywhere on the body.

The biggest risk factors for general hyperpigmentation are sun exposure and inflammation, as both situations can increase melanin production. The greater your exposure to the sun, the greater your risk of increased skin pigmentation.

Depending on the type of disorder, other risk factors for hyperpigmented patches may include:

  • oral contraceptive use or pregnancy, as seen with melasma

  • darker skin type, which is more prone to pigmentation changes

  • drugs that increase your sensitivity to the sunlight

  • trauma to the skin, such as a wound or superficial burn injury

Types of hyperpigmentation

There are several types of hyperpigmentation, the common ones being melasma, sunspots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Melasma. Melasma is believed to be caused by hormonal changes and may develop during pregnancy. Areas of hyperpigmentation can appear on any area of the body, but they appear most commonly on the stomach and face.

Sunspots. Also called liver spots or solar lentigines, sunspots are common. They are related to excess sun exposure over time. Generally, they appear as spots on areas exposed to the sun, like the hands and face.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is a result of injury or inflammation to the skin. A common cause of this type is acne.

How is hyperpigmentation diagnosed and treated?

A dermatologist can diagnose the cause of your hyperpigmentation. They will request your medical history and give you a physical exam to determine the cause. In some cases, a skin biopsy can narrow down the cause.

Topical prescription medication can treat some cases of hyperpigmentation. This medication usually contains hydroquinone, which lightens the skin.

However, prolonged use of topical hydroquinone (without any breaks in use) can cause darkening of the skin, known as ochronosis. So, it’s best to use topical hydroquinone only under the care of a dermatologist so that they can properly guide you on how to use the medication without any adverse effects.

Using topical retinoids also assists with lightening dark spots of the skin.

Both of these medications can take a few months to lighten darkened areas.

Home care sometimes includes over-the-counter medications that may lighten dark spots. These medications don’t contain as much hydroquinone as prescription medications.

Home care also includes using sunscreen. Sunscreen is the single most important factor in improving most causes of hyperpigmentation. Look for:

  • a physical blocking sunscreen, preferably with zinc oxide as the main active ingredient

  • at least an SPF 30 to 50

  • broad spectrum coverage

Use a sunscreen daily. Reapply it every 2 hours if you are out in the sun — more frequently if you’re sweating or swimming.

There are also skin disorders with which visible light may play a role in perpetuating the hyperpigmentation, such as in melasma.

In that case, look for a mineral sunscreen that also has iron oxide in it, which can block some visible light. Use daily. Wear sun-protective clothing that is SPF-infused.

Shop for SPF-infused clothing online.

Your doctor may also suggest laser treatment or chemical peels to reduce hyperpigmentation, depending on the cause of your hyperpigmentation.

How is hyperpigmentation prevented?

It is not always possible to prevent hyperpigmentation. However, you can protect yourself by:

  • using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30

  • wearing hats or clothing that block sunlight

  • avoiding the sun during the time of the day when it’s strongest, which is typically 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Avoiding certain medications may also help prevent hyperpigmentation.

Hyperpigmentation is not generally harmful and usually is not a sign of a serious medical condition.

In some cases, dark areas will fade on their own with good sun protection. In other cases, more aggressive treatment is needed. There is no guarantee that the dark spots will fade completely, even with treatment.

What is Melasma?

Melasma is a skin condition characterized by brown or blue-gray patches or freckle-like spots. It is often called the “mask of pregnancy.” Melasma happens because of overproduction of the cells that make the color of your skin. It is common, harmless and some treatments may help. Melasma usually fades after a few months.

What is melasma and what does it look like?

Melasma is a common skin disorder. Loosely translated, the word means “black spot.” If you have melasma you are probably experiencing light brown, dark brown and/or blue-gray patches on your skin. They can appear as flat patches or freckle-like spots. Commonly affected areas include your face, including the cheeks, upper lip, and forehead, as well as the forearms. Melasma is sometimes called the “mask of pregnancy” because it frequently affects pregnant women. Melasma typically darkens and lightens over time, often getting worse in the summer and better in the winter.

Another, less common name for melasma, is chloasma. Although this disorder is completely harmless, it understandably makes some people feel self-conscious.

What happens in the skin?

Your skin is made up of three layers. The outer layer is the epidermis, the middle is the dermis, and the deepest layer is the subcutis. It is an organ – the largest organ – and it makes up about one-seventh of your body weight. Your skin is your barricade. It protects your bones, muscles, organs, and everything else from the cold, from germs, sunshine, moisture, toxic substances, injury and more. It also helps regulate your body temperature, prevent hydration, and feel sensations like the warmth of the stove, the fur on your dog’s belly and the pressure of someone else’s hand holding yours.

Your epidermis contains cells called melanocytes that store and produce a dark color (pigment) known as melanin. In response to light, heat, or ultraviolet radiation or by hormonal stimulation, the melanocytes produce more melanin, and that is why your skin darkens.

What are the types of melasma?

There are three types of melasma, and they have to do with the depth of the pigment. A Wood’s lamp that emits black light may be used to determine the depth of the pigment. The three types are:

Epidermal: Epidermal melasma has a dark brown color, a well-defined border, appears obvious under black light and sometimes responds well to treatment.

Dermal: Dermal melasma has a light brown or bluish color, a blurry border, appears no differently under black light and does not respond well to treatment.

Mixed melasma: Mixed melasma, which is the most common of the three, has both bluish and brown patches, shows a mixed pattern under black light and shows some response to treatment.

What causes melasma?

There are two main causes of melasma: radiation, whether ultraviolet, visible light, or infrared (heat) light; and hormones.

Ultraviolet and infrared radiation from the sun is key in making melasma worse. Other possible causes of melasma include:

Antiseizure medications: Drugs that prevent you from having seizures may be a cause of melasma. An example of an antiseizure medication is Clobazam (Onfi®).

·Contraceptive therapy (birth control): Melasma has been observed in individuals who use oral contraceptive pills that contain estrogen and progesterone.

Estrogen/Diethylstilbestrol: Diethylstilbestrol is a synthetic (man-made) form of the hormone estrogen. It is often used in treatments for prostate cancer. Again, there is a pattern between increased estrogen and melasma.

Genetics: About 33% to 50% of people with melasma have reported that someone else in the family has it. Most identical twins both have melasma.

Hypothyroidism: A condition where your thyroid is underactive.

LED Screens: Melasma may be caused by the LED lights from your television, laptop, cell phone and tablet.

  • Pregnancy: It is unclear why “the mask of pregnancy” happens to pregnant women. However, experts theorize that the increased levels of estrogen, progesterone, and the melanocyte-stimulating hormones during the third trimester of pregnancy play a role.
  • Hormones: Hormones like estrogen and progesterone may play a role in some people. Postmenopausal women are sometimes given progesterone and have been observed developing melasma. If you are not pregnant, you likely have elevated levels of estrogen receptors found in your melasma lesions.
  • Makeup (cosmetics): Some cosmetics can cause what is called a phototoxic reaction.
  • Phototoxic drugs (medicines that make you sensitive to sunlight): These include some antibiotics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), diuretics, retinoids, hypoglycaemics, antipsychotics, targeted therapies, and some other drugs.
  • Skin care products: A product that irritates your skin in general will likely make your melasma worse.
  • Soaps: Some scented soaps are thought to cause or worse melasma.
  • Tanning beds: The UV light produced by tanning beds damages your skin just as bad as the UV light from the sun, and sometimes worse.

What are the signs of melasma?

Melasma causes light brown, dark brown, and/or bluish patches or freckle-like spots on your skin. Sometimes the patches can become red or inflamed. Melasma appears in six locations or a combination of locations on your skin:

  • Brachial: The melasma appears on your shoulders and upper arms.
  • Centrofacial: The melasma appears on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and upper lip.
  • Lateral cheek pattern: The melasma appears on both cheeks.
  • Malar: The melasma appears on your cheeks and nose.
  • Mandibular: The melasma appears on the jawline.
  • Neck: In people aged 50 or older, melasma can appear on all sides of the neck.

Your healthcare provider will decide for sure if you have melasma or another type of skin disorder.

Dark Spots on Face

From freckles and age spots to scarring, many things can make your complexion look uneven. While harmless, uneven skin may prompt some people into trying various skin lightening products.

While there are many skin lightening products and solutions on the market, they aren’t all created equal, and some could even be dangerous. Knowing what to look for can help you choose a safe option if you find yourself wanting a more even complexion.

Hyperpigmentation, or dark spots, can be caused by acne scars, excessive sun exposure, or hormonal changes, according to David E. Bank, MD, of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

“There are a variety of creams and serums that patients can use to help lighten, brighten, and diminish dark spots on face and body over time,” he said.

Each of these treatment options come with some risks. Read on to find which option may work best for you.

Hydroquinone creams and serums

Perhaps the most popular solution for skin lightening on a spot-by-spot basis is topical solutions containing hydroquinone.

A 2013 study Trusted Source found potential benefits for facial melasma, which causes patches of discoloration. More research is needed to determine the full scope of effectiveness.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)Trusted Source limits the concentration of this active ingredient to 2 percent in over-the-counter (OTC) products and up to 12 percent in prescription products. It’s the only ingredient classified as a “bleaching agent” by the FDA.

While deemed safe for use in cosmetic products, the concentration of hydroquinone is limited because it poses greater risks at higher concentrations.

In fact, in South Africa, it’s not legal for any use at all. It’s also classified as “expected to be toxic or harmful” in Canada.

There are concerns that this ingredient could cause cancer, but the existing research is limited.

It’s recommended that people only use products containing hydroquinone on a short-term basis, if at all. If you experience irritation, unusual darkening of the skin, or any other side effects, stop using it immediately.

Retinoid solutions

Products like Retin-A and Renova are an alternate solution. They contain retinoic acid, which works to increase cell turnover, speed up exfoliation, and promote new, healthy skin growth.

There is clinical research linking retinoids and improvements in skin photoaging, including on Black skin.

These ingredients can be considerably drying and make the skin more sensitive to the sun’s rays. If you opt for these solutions, understand that they can take a few months or longer to work. Make sure you wear sunscreen every day.

Laser treatments and peels

A more aggressive option for lightening dark spots is laser treatment, which uses concentrated light energy. Some laser treatments target the pigment itself, while others work by removing the skin layer by layer.

With this method, the darkened layers of skin are burned off.

There are several different types of laser treatment. This solution works faster than topical products. But there are some risks.

With laser skin lightening, you may experience:

  • swelling
  • redness
  • tightness
  • scarring
  • infection
  • changes in the skin’s texture
  • Chemical exfoliators

Chemical exfoliating products typically use various types of gentle acids to break up dead skin cells, or the top layer of the skin. Removing this layer can help reveal healthier and more evenly toned skin beneath.

Though many are less irritating than physical exfoliators like sugar scrubs, they, too, can cause skin irritation.

Chemical exfoliants use ingredients such as:

  • alpha hydroxy acid (AHA)
  • azelaic acid
  • beta hydroxy acid (BHA)
  • glycolic acid
  • lactic acid
  • mandelic acid
  • salicylic acid

These can be bought over the counter, or in stronger forms from a doctor or dermatologist.

It’s important to use chemical exfoliants sparingly since your skin needs time to rebuild and repair. Using a product more often than intended can lead to irritation or inflammation.

Some skin is more sensitive to different chemical products. If you experience any side effects, discontinue using that product.

Other solutions

You can find OTC products that claim skin lightening and “correcting” abilities via natural ingredients. According to Bank, common compounds in these products include:

  • vitamin C
  • azelaic acid
  • pomegranate extract
  • beta carotene
  • licorice extract

There are still some risks with these products. Your skin could have a sensitivity or allergic reaction to nearly anything — “natural” products included.

Preventing dark spots

For most people, the effects of skin lightening products are minimal when compared with the risks.

Avoiding skin damage in the first place is typically the best solution. Taking care to protect your skin even after you have spots will keep them from worsening.

“Strict sun protection is key in fading dark spots,” said Bank. “Using products with blocking ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide is crucial, otherwise the spots can come back even after removal.”

Platelet-Enriched Plasma (PRP) for Skin Rejuvenation: Popular Cosmetic Choice in Aesthetic Medicine

Making the right choice between traditional and nontraditional skin rejuvenation treatments necessitates an in-depth comprehension of Skin Rejuvenation processes. This article deals with Platelet-Enriched Plasma or PRP for Skin Rejuvenation and elaborates on the reasons as to why you should consider this beneficial treatment.

Instead of a single skin care treatment, the Skin Rejuvenation process is a series of multiple skincare treatments. Without applying any expensive or unsafe invasive methods, your skin’s youth, beauty, quality, health, and strength can improve with PRP treatments. Skincare can range from exfoliation, skin masks, chemical peels to many other skin rejuvenation treatments.

With plenty of medical advances in the skincare industry, the Skin Rejuvenation process is much safer and more popular today than in the past with the use of PRP therapy.

PRP Skin Rejuvenation

Due to involvement in harnessing the blood, the Plasma Platelet Rich Skin Rejuvenation process is also commonly known as Vampire Facial in pop culture. Vampire Facial helps heal the body by drawing from the human body’s natural energy. All the four blood constituents are separated from each other before obtaining concentrated platelets in the plasma. White blood cells, platelets, red blood cells, and plasma are the four distinct and principal components in human blood. Once the blood has been centrifuged, it is the yellowish colour platelet-rich plasma with the many growth factors that is used for skin rejuvenation

How does PRP work in the Skin Rejuvenation Process?

When used for facial rejuvenation, PRP is applied topically on the patient’s skin and using a microneedling device at specific depths the PRP is absorbed into the patient’s skin. The benefits will be imminent due to the PRP absorption by the skin. Platelet Rich Plasma therapy can be utilized in many applications for body benefits, including skin rejuvenation and hair loss treatments.

What are the Advantages of using PRP for Skin Rejuvenation?

Research studies note that “PRP injections in the lower-eyelid region are a safe, efficient, virtually pain-free, simple, and rapid treatment option for an area with otherwise limited treatment alternatives.” To avoid the clumping created by injectable fillers, some clinics use Platelet-Enriched Plasma specifically in the vulnerable area under the eye.

PRP Skin Rejuvenation is a non-surgical procedure, as Dr. Sal Nadkarni describes it as: “The main equipment needed to perform the Vampire Facial (PRP) procedure are phlebotomy kits to draw blood and a centrifuge to spin the blood to separate out the cellular components of the blood plasma.” The platelets are separated, followed by re-injecting into the face after the blood is spun.

Consider the following benefits of PRP as an effective remedy for Skin Rejuvenation:

Collagen Generation: For anyone suffering from dry skin, wrinkles, uneven skin, or any other skin issue, PRP has been a proven remedy. The body’s collagen creation starts to decrease past the age of 25. The human body requires quality collagen to heal the skin. The quality and quantity of the collagen in the body will keep declining if external stimulation is not applied. As the patient’s skin is penetrated with PRP, new healthier collagen starts to generate. Results continue to improve in as little as a few weeks after the PRP treatment is carried out.

Long-term Effects: PRP Vampire Facial only require about half of the treatments to get the results similar to other micro-needling therapies. Our Skin Rejuvenation packages include PRP with other proven skin therapies such as AAPE, Alex Peel, and Structural Remodling System (SRS). Alternating the PRP with another therapy can increase the effectiveness of the program. For more information about our different packages, click here:

Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Most people pursue PRP Vampire Facial as a removal treatment for fine lines and wrinkles. Wrinkles and fine lines are decreased due to elastin formation, collagen generation, new skin cells, and recycling of old skin cells. To remedy the common aging signs like fine lines and wrinkles, cellular turnover is increased. With the help of induced micro-injuries, the removal leads to organically tighter skin.

Lower Downtime: The patient can experience some redness for 1-3 days with micro-needling. The “micro-injuries” generated by the micro-needling are primarily healed as soon as they are inflicted thanks to Platelet-Enriched Plasma! Hence, by using PRP treatment, the downtime can be quickly decreased.

Tighter and Firmer Skin: Aging is the fundamental reason for thin skin, especially cheeks and lips. You should consult clinical experts to gauge your ideal aesthetic before deciding on any skin issue. Skin begins to sag despite wrinkles and lines not always being visible with age. Some of you might pursue PRP to avoid wrinkles, or for plumping to help re-contouring their cheeks. Collagen is necessary to make the skin more tight and firm as it acts as a skin’s plumping agent.

Fast Procedure: the PRP treatment is completed in about 1 hour. Blood is processed through a centrifuge after syringes are used to draw the blood. It takes 12 minutes to run the blood in a centrifuge. The whole process takes approximately 60 minutes based on the number of the areas and size the patient is being treated for.

Skin Tone and Texture: The results are impressive, fast, and quite observable with rapid skin improvement after PRP Vampire Facial. The patient can take advantage of PRP Skin Rejuvenation . acne scars, hyperpigmentation, scars from traumatic injury, surgical scars, stretch marks, and other forms of low texture or skin tone.

How to know if you are a viable recipient for PRP Skin Rejuvenation?

Anyone with hyper-pigmentation, dry skin, aging, acne scars, wrinkles, or tight skin seeking a remedy other than a surgical facelift and imbalanced skin is viewed as a viable recipient of the PRP for Skin Rejuvenation.

If you are using blood thinners for any clotting condition regularly or suffering from blood diseases then you are not viable for a PRP treatment. Any patient with extreme sun damage may require more treatment measures.

Although quite an unknown fact, studies have deemed PRP for Skin Rejuvenation/Vampire Facial as a viable treatment for almost every patient, excluding those with the conditions mentioned above. Substances like lotions, anti-aging ointments, and creams are full of inorganic elements. Based on the factors like patient’s allergies, skin kind, and various other factors, they are prone to adverse side effects. On the other hand, PRP does not cause any allergic reaction due to the use of the patient’s own natural blood. Therefore, Vampire Facial or PRP is accepted by patients’ bodies as an organic substance.

These factors provide effective treatment for facial rejuvenation and facial aging. The system generates results in the dermis and muscles. It targets the underlying problems associated with skin aging while being powered by HVPC technology.

Being one of the most evaluated skin treatment on the market, The Skin Remodelling System by RMD is unique. It aims to satisfy the need to improve one’s appearance by significantly reducing aging signs through non-invasive, non-surgical means. SRS is designed to support the tightening of pores distinctively and toning facial and neck muscles. The treatment of skin texture and the smoothing of age-related expression lines is also achieved via this method.

During treatment, innovative and scientifically proven technologies consist of U-vibrations, Electroporation, High Voltage Pulsatile Currents (HVPC), Galvanic current, and Micro-Currents are combined. This five-tiered approach operates with the body to tighten the skin, favor new collagen growth, and tone sagging muscles. Hence, it provides effective treatment.

How does Skin Remodeling System work?

The RMD system regenerates skin cells, restores collagen fibers, enhances local blood and lymph circulation. It also accelerates collagen synthesis, and stimulates fibroblast activity. The RMD Structural Remodeling System has been designed to reduce time, smoothen out age-related wrinkles, support the skin’s natural texture, and strengthen the neck and facial muscles.

The procedure effectively stimulates rejuvenation and skin toning by delivering energy to the muscle tissue and dermis. It is intended for synergistic effects and performed using an exclusive manipula. The time for therapeutic development (full exposure cycle) is 2 seconds.

The RMD system focuses on delivering optimal results in the muscles and dermis intended for associated underlying problems and skin aging. The fantastic thing is that one SRS program holds a blend of scientifically proven five technologies. This effective mixture provides non-surgical, effective facial rejuvenation, and focuses on important factors associated with facial aging. Furthermore, it is powered by HVPC Technology.

The Skin Remodeling System™ targets all layers of the skin for younger, natural-looking results that last. The five-tiered approach works with the body to stimulate new collagen growth, tone sagging muscles, and tighten the skin. During treatment, the combination of scientifically proven technologies consists of Ultrasound, High Voltage Pulsatile Currents (HVPC), High Voltage Short-Pulse Current (HVSPC), Galvanic Current, and Impulse Micro-Currents.

All five electrotherapy technologies work simultaneously due to unique engineering developments implemented in the manipula:

Ultrasound heat the skin tissues and boost collagen production for more elastic, plumper skin. The tissues are heated to a temperature between 40 ° C-45 ° C range under the influence of 3 MHz, which introduces the active substance molecules into the deep layers of the skin and promptly stimulates collagen synthesis.

High Voltage Short-Pulse Current (HVSPC)

Electroporation currents increase the absorption factor of the skin. Short single-phase currents of 70 V stimulate tissue repair. They also increase the electroporation (cell membranes permeability).

High Voltage Pulse Current (HVPC)

Neuromuscular stimulation for the recovery and toning of muscle fibers is safely carried out by double impulses of single-phase current (135 V).

Pulsating Micro Currents

The pulsating two-phase current with a linear density of 120 μA / cm2 maintains cellular homeostasis. It increases the muscle’s susceptibility to nerve stimulation. Pulsed microcurrent increases ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). It also lifts saggy muscles. ATP is a molecule that energizes the cells for repair and renewal.

Galvanic current

Direct Biphasic currents increase the absorption factor of the skin. Direct biphasic current with a linear density of 250 μA / cm2 promotes tissue repair via physiological mechanisms stimulation.

AAPE Skin Rejuvenation: Best Choice for Eternal Youth

One of the aesthetics industry’s major health issues is ageing skin, and their significant chunk of the market seeking new effective and efficient ways to deal with skin issues. The skin is shaped by the collagen produced organically in the human body. The skin often becomes loose due to the gravity pull resulting from collagen loss in the body. With age, reduced collagen also leads to thinner skin, reducing the skin’s ability to retain moisture (Hyaluronic acid) and elasticity (from elastin). The wrinkles, hollowed cheeks, dry/rough skin with dark spots, sagging eyelids, and bags under the eyes became challenging issues for the human body once collagen gets lowered below a specific limit. The Skin Rejuvenation Clinic in Richmond Hill, Ontario, provides radiant and youthful skin treatments without any surgical facelift, AAPE being one such treatment.

If you are reading this article, it you are probably in the process of deciding on pursuing AAPE (Advanced Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Protein Extracts) as a treatment for Skin Rejuvenation. This article will provide comprehensive information that will aid in making an informed decision regarding the treatment. The article will first layout what AAPE and Stem cell therapy is to understand the treatment process and all the relevant points.

AAPE (Advanced Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Protein Extracts)

AAPE holds a distinct blend profile that is engineered to maximize one’s hair follicles and skin revitalizing effects. It is a mixture of cytokine proteins and refined growth factors obtained from the conditioned media that cultures the human ADSC (Adipose-Derived Stem Cells).

The next term to understand in the AAPE treatment is ADSC that are stem cells derived from adipose. Stem cells are primarily primordial cells that hold the potential ability to differentiate after evolution into a broad range of specialized cell types and species. These cells can be observed working in all multi-cellular organisms and most of their tissues. As opposed to meiosis, mitosis (simple cell division) occurs when stem cells perpetuate themselves due to their evolving capabilities.

AAPE employs Stem Cells therapy to the fullest by acting as protein messengers to change, rearrange, or repair the local tissues rapidly and significantly by extracting from stem cells. Stem cell therapy in the aesthetic surgery industry helps patients’ damaged or aged skin cells restore their embryonic potential. The therapy also aims to develop the ageing tissues as the exosomes from stem cells derived from human adipose promote the migration and proliferation of skin fibroblasts.

AAPE is comprised of extracellular matrix proteins as well as the extracted and purified growth factor proteins. The growth factors, along with robust regenerative stem and stromal cells, biologic components, and progenitor cells, help the cells to regenerate growth. Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) holds these regenerative elements, coupled with mesenchymal stem cells. The AAPE serum’s fat tissue or adipose provides a combination of a considerable quantity of mesenchymal stem cells and other powerful components in the SVF to catalyze the regenerative process.

Multiple stem cell products like AAPE were developed due to recent progressive technologies and techniques like cell culture and cultivation, protein extraction, and purification. All the recent advances in stem cells have been possible due to a chance discovery that fatty tissue like adipose in the human body holds the single most concentration of stem cells. This discovery of goldmine of convenient accessibility offered the massive stem cells under the human skin and led to the fantastic treatment like AAPE. Being a leap in aesthetic advancement, AAPE is all set to revolutionize the cosmetic industry. In the long run, AAPE will be pursued by patients in need of anti-ageing solutions.

Efficacy and Promising Uses of AAPE Serum

As a patented product, AAPE has also been registered with INCI as a media extract conditioned by human adipocyte. The skin serum of AAPE (Advanced Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Protein Extract) is a non-invasive and safe treatment that can be injected as an aesthetic facial treatment in a clinical setting without discomfort or downtime. On September 13, 2006, the treatment was certified safe as an approved cosmetic ingredient by CTFA (Cosmetic Toiletry and Fragrance Association).

AAPE’s composition differentiates based on the purpose of the treatment. The protein proportions and composition alter depending on treating hair or skincare lines. The AAPE serum generates anti-oxidation and anti-wrinkle activity without any skin irritation and any immune or allergic reactions. It provides such a safe treatment due to the combination of 150 extracted human proteins that provides the best biological activity while acting synergistically. The extracted proteins include, Collagen type-1, bFGF, VGEF, KGF, TGFbeta-1, HGF, and Fibronectin.

The unique protein composition of AAPE renders it offering various promising uses. The serum treatment can help regenerate the facial fat affected by facial fat atrophy due to the natural ageing process. AAPE replaces the facial volume lost with age and helps the skin rejuvenation by skin repair from inside out. Besides skin rejuvenation, AAPE on the scalp also stimulates hair growth and reverses balding effects by regenerating ageing hair follicles.

Being the first product based on stem cells (SCI Journals) with clinical results in humans, AAPE is a promising treatment that ensures desired results. The brand AAPE is approved by medical professionals and dermatologists based in Japan, Korea, and the USA, with over 600,000 clinical treatments by over 3,000 dermatologists in more than 30 countries globally. In Japan alone, AAPE is used for hair growth with a clinical hair program in more than 200 clinics.

Using AAPE (Advanced Adipose-Derived Protein Extract) for Skincare

The aesthetic skin and anti-ageing therapies are supported by establishing cell lines that act as a stem cell reservoir. The cell lines are established by cultivating the regenerative cells in test tubes. Most of the regenerative cells are contained within AAPE extracted during the fat suction (Lipoaspiration) process from fat cells or human adipocytes. These therapies are relatively superior to synthetic chemicals and other traditional methods.

The AAPE for Skin Rejuvenation is an innovative cellular treatment that originated from the most advanced cellular science. The therapy helps maximize the skin’s revitalizing effects due to natural capabilities for regeneration and synergic action. The stem cells applied to skin rejuvenation via AAPE serum are the protein extract of human adipose tissue containing more than 300 growth factors that help reduce ageing and produce anti-wrinkles effects. The factors include vascular endothelial, insulin-like growth factor 1, hepatocyte, platelet-derived growth factor, etc. the protein extracts in the stem cells also contribute by delivering superior biological activity that improves skin elasticity and boosts cell repair process. Scientific research has proven AAPE to be an effective, safe, and powerful treatment for anti-ageing skincare regimens due to its extraction from human adipose-derived stem cells.

AAPE for skin rejuvenation induces glutathione peroxidase activity and increases fibroblast proliferation. It also increases the dermal thickness by 30 % with indicated anti-wrinkle effects. AAPE can effectively remove wrinkles, heal wounds/scarring, lighten the skin, and cause antioxidant effects.

AAPE Treatment Process for Skin Rejuvenation

Our expertise at Skin Rejuvenation Clinic in Richmond Hill, Ontario, provides efficacy for the AAPE treatment through cellular regeneration. Our clinic offers a superior product that uses Cellexosome therapy to apply AAPE plus plant-derived exosome (Panax Ginseng Exosomes and Asparagus Exosomes). The AAPE serum is topically applied via a micro-needling device technique into the target skin (face, neck, hands, neckline, or scalp) area where wrinkles and spots are. Cellexosome therapy will trigger natural cell stimulation, healing, and skin regeneration. It involves naturally formulated exosomes that are nanocarrier for cell signaling.

The therapy generally offers ample coverage for reconditioning and skin rejuvenation. Recommended treatments for optimal results is 8 applications every two weeks. A typical treatment session lasts 30 minutes, and most patients start witnessing the effects with the third session onwards. Our 8 session’s package ensures lasting anti-ageing effects.
